EXCLUSIVE: Nadia Sapphire has been suffering from a torrent of online abuse over her weight in recent weeks, and has now hit back at the trolls in an emotional response

A top British wrestling and OnlyFans star has slammed Twitter trolls who attack her because of her figure.

Nadia Sapphire has made a name for herself both in and out of the ring for being plus-sized, but also body positive.

But after becoming the subject of an online article based on negative comments from social media users, Nadia has seen abuse towards her ramp up in recent days.

And she is not taking it lying down.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, an emotional Nadia said: “I have had wrestling fans commenting on my weight, my cellulite, my thighs and stuff like that my entire career and I'm fed up of it – it p****s me off.

“I do try to be body confident, and I've always been a bigger girl – I do love food and I emotionally eat.

“When I was 21 I was diagnosed with bi-polar, when I was 16 I was diagnosed with depression and when I was younger than that I was bulimic, and I've been on a lot of medication since then – some of the side-effects are cravings and over-eating.

“I do have a personal trainer, and I've actually lost two stone within a year because I wanted to get fitter for wrestling, but it feels like that's not enough.

“These fat-shaming Twitter trolls can just f*** off.”

Wales-born Nadia, 31, who has been wrestling since she was 16, was one of the first in the wrestling industry to turn to OnlyFans, which has seen her thrust into the spotlight more than her wrestling career had done before.

And with that comes an increase in unwanted attention.

But for her, the nasty comments started from a much younger age.

“I did a beauty pageant at 17, and someone wrote that I looked like I had had too many Mars bars, which as a 17-year-old that is really horrible,” she said.

“I've only had a healthy relationship with my body for the last four or five years.

“Reading all this stuff that the trolls have been writing, I've just watched a match of mine from a month ago and I can't focus on the wrestling – I'm just looking at my tummy and thinking how awful I look.

“It does get to me, and I know people say that I put myself out there and I should be judged, should I really be torn apart and have my weight torn apart and trolled?

“Every time I put a TikTok video out that goes viral, there's always someone who comments on my weight – it's the one thing that's at the forefront of people's minds all the time.

“Until these trolls started again, I was confident in myself and my gear – I've always tried to embrace that.”

Despite the torrent of abuse she faces for the way she looks, Nadia recently had a life-affirming experience with one young fan.

After a wrestling show, she was approached by the mum of a young girl and admitted that her daughter was now a fan of hers.

And it came about because the mum had told her daughter to find a role model who was “curvier and had a more normal shape and figure”.

Nadia recalled: “She thanked me for showing her that you can do something and be physically fit and chase your dreams.

“I make a living off who Nadia Sapphire is – my looks, my figure, my entire persona.

“I don't have another job like some in the industry, and I'm proud that I do have a fanbase who love me in that way.”
